Banner of www.leicesterlions.co/LEICESTER are all set to open the doors of Beaumont Park to competitive racing for the first time on Saturday April 2.Speedway returns to the city after a 28-year absence when the newly re-launched Lions, under the promotion of David Hemsley, take on Sheffield in a challenge fixture, and a sell-out crowd is expected. Hemsley said: “Over the last two weeks we have made huge progress with the construction of the three stands, the walkway from the car park to the stadium and the completion of facilities people expect in a public area. This just leaves us with a few small tasks to complete ahead of our opening meeting on Saturday. “I was delighted with how many people came along to watch the riders practice and it shows the level of interest that has been created. Fans have sent messages to say they enjoyed the practice session and were very impressed with how the stadium looks.” bspa

@mikebspeedway Mike Bennett Must be 5000 people at Leicester #speedway tonight. Once the track settles this will be a great venue. Puts some EL tracks to shame!

I took in the Leicester v Ipswich match last night and for my first time there the stadium is very tidy.
The track however although is narrow although banked and doesnt in my opinion offer itself to good racing which through the night was pretty processional, we saw a lot of grading on the night which was a waste of time because their was very little loose shale on the surface.
If going I would recommend you dont park in the official car park but use the shopping centre car parks because getting out is a nightmare, its also at £15 very expensive and is very overpiced as a PL venue.
