American legend Greg Hancock got the better of his World Championship rival Tomasz Gollob again in the Swedish Elitserien to lead Piraterna to a 54-36 win over Hammarby on Tuesday.
The Californian topped the rostrum in the FIM Doodson British SGP on Saturday night to take a 12-point lead over the Pole in the rankings.
And Hancock triumphed in two of their three meetings in Motala on the way to a stunning 16 paid 17 points from six races. Gollob denied Herbie a maximum with victory in race 10 as he collected 12 paid 13 for the Stockholm outfit.
Hancock received plenty of back-up from reserve Linus Sundstrom, who won four races to accrue 12 points. Swedish international Jonas Davidsson also starred on 11 paid 14.
Elsewhere, Rune Holta, who sits out next month’s Speedway World Cup to rest his injured wrists, got back on form after his one-point disaster in Cardiff by scoring 13 for Dackarna.
But it was not enough to stop home team Vetlanda bulldozing their local rivals aside 52-38.
World No.2 Jaroslaw Hampel led Vetlanda’s scorechart once again with 12 paid 14, while Jason Crump bagged 10. Their SGP rival Janusz Kolodziej collected seven and Swedish hotshot Thomas H Jonasson weighed in with seven paid nine.
Freddie Lindgren offered Holta some support for Dackarna by notching nine points, while Andreas Jonsson added eight paid 10.
Danish racer Hans Andersen, who has been left out of his country’s Speedway World Cup squad, continued his recovery from a broken foot with seven paid eight at reserve.
Meanwhile, Lejonen lost their fifth meeting on the bounce after former Lions hero Nicki Pedersen inspired Vargarna to a 54-36 win in Gislaved.
The Dane racked up 13 paid 14 points and only compatriot Kenneth Bjerre denied him a full house when they met in heat nine.
Adrian Miedzinski and Kim Nilsson both contributed 10 to their side’s total, while British racer Lee Richardson dropped just one point to an opposition rider as he collected nine paid 11 from four.
Australian international Troy Batchelor was Lejonen’s shining light on 10 paid 12, while Mikael Max managed nine. Bjerre won his opening two races, but ran two last places to finish on six.
In the night’s other meeting, Swedish star Daniel Nermark won a last-heat decider against Chris Harris and Sebastian Ulamek to clinch Valsarna a 46-44 win at home to Vastervik.
Nermark tallied 10 paid 11 points from six races, but reserve Tomasz Gapinski was the star of the show on 15 paid 16. SGP racer Artem Laguta weighed in with a useful eight paid 10.
Ulamek led Vastervik’s scorechart on 11 paid 12, while Peter Ljung bagged 10 paid 11 at reserve. Harris scored a more modest six paid eight.
