It would also be good to keep it open until we have seen the announcement that Bratters is promising in the next few days. That could hopefully stimulate some discussion!

Sad but understandable Riggers , your site is and has been for some time the only source of information if you close it down we might just as well all give up!!

It would also be good to keep it open until we have seen the announcement that Bratters is promising in the next few days. That could hopefully stimulate some discussion! It was probably this: and with this today: "The Peterborough Telegraph understands talks between a six-man consortium committed to saving speedway in Peterborough and Peterborough Panthers owner Keith Chapman are ongoing, but progress has been slow" And Tomalin said: "Red, black or purple I don’t care as long as my team survive the cruelest moment in their 50+ year history. We may have to take one step back to take two steps forward however we have a plan" It's not hard to work out the direction of travel. As for the outcome. You pays your money and takes your choice!

Thanks, Riggers. That announcement was a tad disappointing in my opinion. I echo Rodders sentiments. Its always been nice to share discussions on this site without being trolled, and I will miss it when its gone. I will also miss you guys, even though I don't really know any of you outside this forum!
I can't help thinking Chapman has been paid off by the "developers" as I can't think of any other reason why he wouldn't grab the hand off any prospective purchaser at this stage.

Its certainly the only explanation in my mind for Buster not selling out.

As long as you only think it and don't accuse directly then I think you're ok (unless you're praying in your head, at which point the police turn up (if you're Christian that is)). They do say that actions speak louder than words and Chapman's actions since that 2022 centre green statement and throughout 2023 up until now would lead you to think that he appears somewhere on the list of AEPG employees. He has done nothing to further Panthers cause throughout 2023 and I'm led to believe that Chapman's negativity, and how AEPG would have picked that up, was referenced at Friday's quiz. Then to read: "We have had a conversation with the registered charity, the East of England Agricultural Society, who still own most of the Showground and they said they would have no objection to having speedway there under new ownership as Mr Chapman wasn’t interested in taking the club anywhere as basically he just wanted to see out this season" & "The Peterborough Telegraph understands talks between a six-man consortium committed to saving speedway in Peterborough and Peterborough Panthers owner Keith Chapman are ongoing, but progress has been slow" I mean, how many reasons does one need to arrive at a decision?

You would think that, in the light of the Showground OWNERS having no objection to Speedway continuing and Chapman not prepared to operate in 2024, there should be a mechanism whereby his licence should be forfeited to the BSPA (or should it be the SCB?). It seems outrageous that a person can simply sit on an operating licence, thus forcing the closure of a hitherto successful club.

Never really thought about it in that way but it does beg the question of why they put in an objection when one of their members is effectively destroying a club and significantly weakening part of their business? SCB.pdf (111.71 KB) As always, talk is cheap but leadership and effective action has never been speedway's strong point.
