Concessions £15 That'd be worth a matchday request although it wouldn't be allowed to be read out until after 9pm

Eastbourne Eagles open the new Elite League Speedway season tonight when they entertain Belle Vue at Arlington but they will race a further two times before the Pirates face Coventry in a double header on Good Friday. Coventry, Peterborough and Wolves will also be playing catch up. Eastbourne face Lakeside home and away on the same day meaning they could already hold a substantial lead at the top of the table after five matches. With no recognised No 1 following the departure of Bjarne Pedersen to Birmingham, the Sussex club have opted for a more strength-in-depth team in a bid to win their first title since 2000. Eastbourne boss Trevor Geer said: “We know we must get off to a winning start on Saturday to give us the perfect springboard for us to reach the end-of-season play-offs. I’m sure we can do that again and then we will have a realistic chance of lifting the title.” An opening win for last season’s beaten play-off finalists could depend on whether Rory Schlein leads out Belle Vue after suffering an ankle injury during last Friday night’s Brandonapolis at Coventry. Poole have gone for a top heavy outfit having retained Chris Holder and Darcy Ward but the Pirates will be pressed all the away by 2010 champions Coventry, who boast a powerful trio of Scott Nicholls, Chris Harris and Edward Kennett. Lakeside could be in with a shout of at least a play-off spot again, while Birmingham should improve on their ninth-place finish last season. King’s Lynn’s hopes could depend on how World Under 21 Champion Maciej Janowski takes to riding in England. Peterborough will be encouraged by Linus Sundstrom’s form after winning the Brandonapolis at Coventry last week.Tai Woffinden will need to provide solid backing to Fredrik Lindgren if Wolves are to have a say in the title race. Swindon, rock bottom last year, will hope new signing Hans Andersen can change their fortunes. www.mirror.co.uk Sat 24/3
EASTBOURNE made a winning start to the Elite League season by defeating Belle Vue 55-40 at Arlington. Eagles promoter Mike Bellerby took plenty of positives from the home side’s display, with each of his riders scoring between six and eleven points, with Lewis Bridger leading the way despite a first ride fall. Bellerby said: “This proved to be a night that ticked all the boxes for us, a great result against Belle Vue in front of our biggest opening night crowd in many years. “I appreciate there has been the one match ridden, but nevertheless this puts us top of the Elite League table, and that is just where we intend to stay.” ;D bspa

*Eastbourne Speedway: update on our search for a new rider*
The amount of time we have spent searching for a rider to replace Adam Shields is quite phenomenal. Bob Dugard has spent hours on the telephone speaking to contacts in Poland and elsewhere. We have also used the good offices of some of our current team, former Eagles and others we trust to speak to people in Scandinavia. We quite quickly realised this season that our away form was not acceptable and began looking at riders we might bring in. And, once we knew that Adam Shields would not be returning, our efforts were redoubled. Some clubs at both Elite League level and Premier League level have recently introduced new riders. You can rest assured than in most of those cases, Eastbourne had spoken to the rider concerned or their representatives. In addition, the club produced a long list of potential recruits which we have diligently worked through. The stumbling block has not been money. Riders, not already committed to racing in the UK, will not change their planned programmes. Often they have flights arranged and do not wish to alter arrangements, especially for a club which races its home meetings on a Saturday night. We have been turned down time and again because they do not wish to race in England on a Saturday night when they are already committed to Polish fixtures on a Sunday. Despite being turned down on many occasions, we continue to work to bring the matter to a satisfactory conclusion

27/3/14 eaglesweb:
Three league points, no slip-ups and no mistakes . . . those are the simple demands of Eastbourne Speedway team boss Trevor Geer ahead of Saturday’s opening Elite League match at Arlington against Birmingham.
Geer is telling his Lifestyle Eagles that a convincing win is a must against last season’s table-toppers.
He said: “I will make it crystal clear to our lads that we are out to win the league this year and go on to take the title in the play-offs.
“The first step to doing that is by winning your home meetings and taking three points every time.”
He has warned the full--strength side they must be on top of their game from the moment the tapes go up in heat one and then ensure they dominate proceedings.
“We have a good run of early-season matches and we must win these and get points on the board. Nothing breeds success like success.
“It sends team morale soaring and we know it gives supporters the vital “feelgood factor”.
Both the Eastbourne Lifestyle Eagles and Birmingham have undergone a number of changes this year.
In the home camp, Simon Gustafsson and Lukas Dryml have gone while Timo Lahti is a temporary replacement for the injured Kim Nilsson.
As with all Elite League clubs, the reserves are brand new – the result of the “draft” system to advance British riders.
Lewis Blackbird and Danny Halsey fulfil that role for Eastbourne – the two riders Geer sought when he went to the draft allocation meeting.
He was particularly heartened by the performance in last Saturday’s testimonial of Blackbird, who beat Michelsen in one race.
“There was some great stuff from Lewis and it augurs well. He showed lots of fight which I know our supporters will really appreciate,” he commented.
Birmingham are much changed from 2013 but their “engine room” of Danny King and Ben Barker remains, backed the irrepressible Adam Skornicki who was one of the stars at Arlington in the Joonas Kylmakorpi Testimonial meeting.

Well it's Eastbourne v Leicester on bet 365 tonight (5/4/14), good this innit. Just found it, 12-11 after 4 heats. Sounds like the mic is in the bar with constant cackle from some punters.
Just had the tractor and now some waffle. You do get an idea now how tedious it is spreading 15 mins action over 2 hours!
