Oh I forgot that it was Thursday Nicholls takes over from Hans Andersen as Panthers skipper with the club building up to their planned return to racing from mid-May.Club bosses stressed that the decision is no reflection on Panthers legend Andersen and they hinted that the unusual logistics surrounding the 2021 campaign played a part in the move, especially with the Dane also planning to race in Poland. They added that the travel situation is still a question and they’re still waiting for confirmation, even after Monday’s announcements: hopefully it will be fine, but you never quite know. We’ve all got ‘phones so communication shouldn’t be an issue, but when you need to talk to the captain about something, or to be somewhere with him for an event, it’s much easier if he’s based in the UK. So effectively there are several elements to the decision but it’s no slight on Hans in any way, shape or form, and it’s no on his ability do the job. Shortened version of the full article: ET 8/4/41 We’ve all got ‘phones so communication shouldn’t be an issue, - made me chuckle. I'm sure that we can all recall the convenience of being unable to communicate when it suits despite numerous instantaneous methods these days! Personally I have never been able top see what useful role a Captain of a Speedway Team performs. The important bit is it’s Thursday and the need for regular news on the website, that’s the point. Content is unimportant.

The important bit is it’s Thursday and the need for regular news on the website, that’s the point. Content is unimportant. Well let's just say that allegedly there is more important information circulating if you happen to know someone who seems to know (I don't but just got a snippet second hand), and that would be interesting in the public domain if true. Perhaps it's incorrect information, waiting for a future ET Thursday or the club's officials page on the website hasn't caught up, so no change there

Personally I have never been able top see what useful role a Captain of a Speedway Team performs. Basically I agree but they should be able to lead by example which is why Andersen has been so well suited to it over his career. I wouldn't have wanted to be the opposition with him at his best as the opposing captain and figurehead, or one of the team not pulling their weight with him in the pits. Speedway is a team sport with 7 individuals trying to earn their living and trying to progress or maintain their career. When interviewed many don't even know the score. Andersen at least had the team ethic along with his individual ambitions.

I'm not sure that it's the stance Rodders (or at least it shouldn't be) but sometimes the delivery. You didn't create the problem so if some got upset then tough.

Send out some feelers Regret that following my stand re Blue Badges I am Persona Non Grata with most in the club. You appear a very forgiving person. You paid for season tickets that were never used. You were constantly ignored regarding updates. Now completely ignored due to to the Blue Badge challenge. You have much more patience than me. I would be demanding my season ticket money back, never ever purchase another and pick and choose meetings. It’s not as if season tickets are VFM or loyalty recognised at all.

I have to say I am a bit hopeful re BB parking. They replied in the end re Season Tickets when I threatened Small claims court. I agreed to hold over till this season. Not a lot of sympathy over season tickets on forums most seemed to think I was unreasonable or that I was making a fuss over nothing , and should wait till Bosses got round to making a decision.

Let’s face it, miss one meeting and a season ticket is hardly VFM. You’ve tried and given everything for nothing.

I should have done that with Posh. I'm still out of pocket for the matches not received at the end of the 2019/20 season. The easy option of m,m,m, money back (as Arkwright would say) wasn't an option if I recall. It was donate to the academy or get a discount on future season tickets for a couple of seasons if my memory serves me right. It's like putting money in a slot machine that only pays out in tokens to be used on that machine.

However with the BB parking( for wife) not for me they were convenient. I have proved many times that bearing in mind you can only park once and most couples use the same program it is actually cheaper for those coming in same car for one to pay at the gate and the other to have season ticket especially as there is a requirement to supply a photograph. I think however that season tickets come more under the auspices of BSPA than the promotion. I recall Ged saying that he got into trouble with fellow promoters as Panthers Season tickets were too cheap.

After all your Speedway years you are very well aware how corrupt and self indulgent it has always been. There are examples of what I would call ‘legitimate people’, Ged appeared a prime example - but as we all know, adhere or your card is marked. Fully understand that it was very difficult for all with this unforeseen pandemic. You would expect clubs insurance to cover the unfortunate loss of season ticket value. Although assume many will cry ‘Force Majeure’. However, this does not excuse a complete lack of communication and respect for those that bought in.

If you're going to go then you might as well get a season ticket for the convenience as you say, although since they did away with the credit card versions I been PAYG. I've never been too fussed about missing a couple of meetings to potentially make a loss over the course of the season. Having said that, the way things are in 2021 with government Covid policy being made depending which way the wind is blowing, I'd play anything for the next 12 months very much by ear and on a piecemeal basis. Wouldn't be going anywhere near a season ticket unless it had spectacular add ons.

Not keen on that view. Speedway must be close. It’s bloody cold out there - a little snow fell here last night, just about cleared from the shady areas.

Different fixture list on Panthers web site Not exactly the go to site for up to date info though is it. Can't recall the last time that it was? Pre Frost I guess when he chose the Facebook/Twitter route and all but closed the forum. Official site gets there at some point but look elsewhere is the best advice.

Perhaps it's incorrect information, waiting for a future ET Thursday or the club's officials page on the website hasn't caught up, so no change there Do tell!! Only taken two months Rodders but here it is. A Thursday scoop but old news in reality! Peterborough Panthers legend Richard ‘Dickie’ Greer is returning to the East of England Showground as a co-promoter.Greer has accepted an invitation from Panthers owner Keith Chapman having previously served as both a rider and official in several previous spells at the Showground. Greer competed in the first-ever race at the Alwalton venue in 1970, when he partnered the late Pete Seaton in a match against Rayleigh, and he spent seven seasons in total with the club across two stints, in addition to racing for the likes of Oxford, Birmingham and Eastbourne. Since retiring from the sport, Greer has fulfilled a number of roles at both domestic and FIM international level and has remained a familiar face with his extensive involvement at the Showground. Greer will now take responsibility for Panthers’ day-to-day business, and for ensuring the smooth running of home meetings for which the club is so well renowned. Greer said: “I’m very, very proud to be asked to become a co-promoter of Peterborough Speedway. “I’ve been involved with the club for 50 years going back to the very first race, and I’ve done jobs in all aspects of the sport there, such as clerk of the course, machine examiner, meeting co-ordinator, even track raking! “The great thing is all the staff at Peterborough know me and respect me. They know I’ll look after them, and I know that when I ask them to do something, they will do it. “It’s very special for me to have the sport back here this year. The track and the stadium look ‘mint’, although there’s been a lot to organise with tickets and seating arrangements and so on. “As things stand Dale (Allitt) will be doing the paperwork regarding riders’ contracts as that’s not something I’ve had experience of yet, but I will be running the meetings.” ET Thursday, 27th May 2021

‘I don’t care about the three points – I just hope Ulrich is OK’
CAMI Brown says all Glasgow’s thoughts are with stricken star Ulrich Ostergaard after he crashed out of tonight’s Scottish derby win over Edinburgh.
The Dane was the Tigers’ top scorer heading into heat 15 at Armadale, as they looked to hold on to a two-point lead.
Ostergaard had a heavy fall on the first bend and the meeting was eventually abandoned due to a lack of medical cover, with the 40-year-old taken to hospital after complaining of back pain.
The 43-41 win hands three points to Glasgow in the SGB Championship, but team manager Brown admits that comes second to his rider’s wellbeing.
He said: “I thought the team were absolutely magnificent tonight and Ulrich was the star man.
“The incident in heat 15 just shows how dangerous the sport is and puts everything into perspective.
“Over the piece I think we deserved to win, but we didn’t want it to happen in that manner.
“In the end I don’t care about the three points and topping the league, I just hope Ulrich is OK, and all our thoughts are with him tonight.
“It’s a sickener because we asked them to give it 100% and they did it – Ulrich took that on board as he always does.
“Ulrich is a real personal friend of mine and has been for many years, so it’s a really difficult one, and we just hope the lad is OK.”
The sides meet again at Ashfield on Sunday in the race for the play-offs.
More news will be made available about Ulrich’s condition in due course.
