Thank you for all the well wishes, and we will bring you more news as and when we receive it. We will be holding a collection for Ulrich on Sunday. Sounded like a season ender depending on the severity of the lower back injury, and so it proved: Ulrich Ostergaard has revealed he won’t race again in 2021.Ostergaard said: “a check up at hospital didn’t show my injuries will heal up before the end of the season so I have told both my clubs that I can’t resume in 2021" “My three broken bones in my back back need at least 10 more weeks in a cast which means I can only walk and lay down before physio and more training can be added - (My head, broken wrist and ribs will be ok soon) “I will fight hard over the next few months and the winter to be fully fit for 2022" - at 42 mate (early in next season) I'd see that as a bit of a wake up call to get out in one piece!peterboroughtoday 12/8/21

PETERBOROUGH have confirmed that they are actively looking for a new signing to replace the injured Ulrich Ostergaard who is out for the remainder of the campaign with the serious back injuries he suffered in a smash at Edinburgh last month.
Panthers have mainly covered for his absence with the rider replacement facility and maintained their play-off progression with wins at Belle Vue and King’s Lynn – before Danny King guested in Monday’s victory over Wolverhampton, which secured a top-four finish. Although King’s Ipswich side are out of the play-off race, he will not be an option for Panthers in September as his average is set to rise.
Management said that the forward planning started some time ago and the club is understandably reluctant to go into a play-off tie as a six-man side and the potential risk attached that another rider is hurt during those meetings. Also, with some clubs’ foreign seasons now winding down, additional options could become available.
Rider replacement has served the club well but it’s not what they want to go into the play-offs and they will bring someone in if possible although if that doesn’t happen then they will run with guests.
